Vision
To be a Centre of Excellence in the Genomics of Mycobacteria Research and Training, with the additional aim of contributing to a reduced burden of infectious diseases in Africa.
Our Research
We aim to advance novel and innovative research in the areas of molecular epidemiology, genomics and immunodiagnostics of Tuberculosis, Leprosy and Buruli Ulcer towards promoting patient care.
We are building capacity to be a national bio-repository of strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex from humans and animals in Nigeria towards advancing collaborative research in drug discovery, vaccine and related scientific endeavors
Our Teaching
Our Ultimate goal is to train the next generation of African Scientists. We will do this by being:
- A training Centre for Certificate Courses in Leprosy, Tuberculosis and Buruli Ulcer across the West Africa Sub-region
- A recognized Centre for Collaborative training towards the award of Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Tuberculosis and other Tropical Diseases.
- A training Centre for Short Courses and organization of Webinars for different Public and Global Health Programmes

Some of our Past Projects
TIMOHI Project
The Ibarapa Meje One Health Initiative, started by Prof. Cadmus in 2016, aims to ensure the complete welfare of the Fulani pastoralists and their livestock in the Ibarapa Meje region of Oyo State. Prof. Cadmus expects that this initiative, which was based on the Zoonotic TB Road Map, would serve as proof-of-concept for the One Health initiative and pave the way for its expansion and use in other parts of Nigeria, Africa, and the rest of the world.
