Whole Genome Sequencing applied to Tuberculosis Management.

The training aimed at exploring suitable Whole genome sequencing workflow, bioinformatics pipeline, and statistical models capable of providing epidemiologically relevant information and robust drug resistance profiles that can profitably guide the management of Tuberculosis (TB) in Nigeria, and Africa at large.
It covered how High-throughput sequencing technologies and Bioinformatics sequence manipulation and analysis are being used to support clinical decision-making process, with reference to several molecular laboratory quality assurance principles that ensure output accuracy, reliability, and reproducibility.

Learning outcomes
Participants were introduced to:
- Current trends in Multi-drug resistant/Rifampicin resistant TB treatment, opportunities and challenges.
- Bioinformatic tools, databases and software relevant to analyze sequence data
- Workflow from sequence generation, analysis and interpretation.
